About What it's like to live in Pacifica and work in San Francisco

What it's like to live in Pacifica and work in San Francisco?
A friend and I are getting together to move down to Pacifica in July. I would like to work in San Francisco as a chef, she will be traveling. How is the commute via mass transit or car to and from? How is it to move into a pet friendly apartment or home? Where are the best places in Pacifica to look for housing if I need to be near mass transit via bus or train? Thank you all!

The commute can be dense, though hooking up to 280 instead of 101 is better traffic-wise. You can take SamTrans to Daly City BART ( five-minute walk between the bus stop and BART station). You'd have to check the SamTrans bus routes to see about close housing. http://www.samtrans.com/ And for travel between specific addresses, use this: http://511.org

Sam Trans is the bus line that serves San Mateo County (where Pacifica is located). Many people live in Pacifica and work in SF. I believe you would need access to a car at least to take you to the BART station (or the end of the nearest SF MUNI bus line) where you can park your cat and hop on a bus which will take you to your job in the city. What about staying in Daly City or Broadmoor which is a little closer to the SF border? Depends where you will be working but many people also use Skyline and the Great Highway to get into SF from Pacifica. Often it's very foggy in Pacifica and I find it amazing how the people living in the area west of Skyline manage to navigate on the roadway despite what I perceive as poor visibility. Parking in the Outer Sunset or Outer Richmond might be good - depending on your job site.

Pacific is not very big in apartments. The area of Pacifica where houses are on the hillside above the ocean is called Linda Mar and is very nice. There is a Taco Bell right on the beach. The other rocky area overlooking the ocean is Pedro Point. The apartments are more in town which is not much of one. The commute is one of the best in the bay area coming from Hwy 1 to 280 into S.F. There is no other way to do it except drive to Daly City BART and park there. There may be a San Mateo county bus but I dont know. It is very quiet there.

Pacifica is not very big on apartments and their is very little public transit going into Pacifica and out. If you were to move to pacifica you would need a car just to drive to BART or something liek that. I would suggest moving to Daly City or Colma which is CLOSER to SF and its remotely closer to BART stations. Theirs a bunch of Apartments that are located close to Colma Bart, and their a bunch of Apartments near Daly City BART ... sounds like you dont want to live in San Francisco. But I think that would be a better idea. Unless your in love with the beaches in pacifica (which are usually foggy but on a nice day its pretty nice to go surfing) then I would suggest living in Daly City or something like that...
