I'm Irish and I want to go work in San Francisco? What's the procedure?
I'm a 25 year old irish web developer seeking to move to San Fran to work. I know a Green card is essential, but is there any form of visa I can get to go work there for a year? Any info? Immigration - 2 Answers

Apply in a US company and when accepted request for the employment contract then use this in applying for a working visa.

You will need to find a US company that is willing to sponsor you, which costs them money. They will have to assert that you have a unique skill or experience which is not found in employees who are already here. You will end up with a work permit, which is not the same as a green card at all, which will allow you to work in the US for several years before having to re-apply, at which point you could still be turned down.
